Let me answer your first question right away….
No, that isn’t Adam Levine. Although, he gets comments almost daily about how much they look alike.
Plus no one has ever seen Dustin and Adam Levine in the same place at the same time...
Anyway, Dustin may not perform lead vocals for Maroon 5, but trust me when I say he’s every bit the rock star.
Dustin is a personal trainer at our Willow Park location. I’m fortunate enough to work alongside Dustin on a daily basis, and I have the privilege to see him change people’s lives in a very dynamic and loving way.
First, let me tell you a little bit about our guy, because he’s very interesting and adventurous.
Dustin has always been into physical fitness, beginning with karate at age 4. He also played basketball, baseball, soccer and even spent several years boxing.
In 2001 Dustin joined the Marines 8 weeks post 9/11. Once he completed boot camp in San Diego, Marine Combat Training in Pendleton, California, he was off to his final formal schooling at Amphibious Assault Battalion where he received his specialty training.
Dustin is a combat veteran with a deployment to Iraq in 2004 and credits his time in the Marines to a couple very valuable lessons.
“What I learned from the Marines is that an impeccable work ethic is of superior value. I also learned that the physical and mental boundaries we set for ourselves are purely illusions. We are vastly more capable of doing grueling, extensive and demanding undertakings than many of us could fathom.”
In was during his time in the Marines that Dustin fell in love with strength training.
Dustin was shown the ropes in the weight room by a few guys in his platoon who had many years of training under their belts.
Dustin became very interested in strength training and bodybuilding, so he began to read everything he could find on the subject, soaking up information like a sponge.
He’s had quite a bit of personal success as well. Being a long and thin guy, he managed to build his body from 165 lbs to a much more muscular 200 lbs.
Dustin not only knows his way around the gym, he’s also a professional black belt Jiu Jitsu fighter in the prestigious Fight to Win Pro League.
He began practicing Brazilian Jiu Jitsu when he was 24, and after a couple years he ranked up to Blue Belt and began teaching at one of the most elite Brazilian Jiu Jitsu academies in the country.
Once he obtained his purple belt, he went pro. He eventually got his black belt and now holds an undefeated record of 2-0.
Pretty impressive resume, huh?
Even more impressive is his drive and determination to help as many people as he can change their lives as he can.
I personally see Dustin reading and learning new things on a daily basis.
In his relentless pursuit of knowledge, Dustin has the skills to help not only those looking to lose weight or build muscle, but he also works with people of any age including those with physical limitations.
Dustin pours his heart into every single session he does with his clients, and finds their success extremely rewarding.
Dustin says his favorite thing about his job is “when a client comes in just looking to lose their tummy, but 8 weeks later they realize that not only is their tummy almost gone, they’re stronger all over, sleeping better, eating healthier foods, have more stamina, and feel better than they did in high school.”
You can see this pride and joy in Dustin’s face as he works with his clients, and you can see the same pride and joy in the face of his clients.
Check out Dustin and his clients in action in the video above.
Have an amazing day.
